           1- Monastery of St. Catherine in Sharm el Sheikh




One of the world’s largest heritage sites listed with UNESCO
Monastery of St. Catherine is located at the foot of Mount Moses, in honor of the burning tree location which God spoke to Moses as stated in the Old Testament.


In the middle of the great natural scenery St. Catherine is highlighted which includes many artworks related back the old culture, figurines, mosaic paintings as well as one of the largest collections of famous manuscripts.
                              

                        2-Ras Mohammed National Park


Location: the protected park is located at the southern end of the Sinai Peninsula at the confluences of Gulf of Suez and Aqaba. The total area consists of 480 km 2, 12 km from the city of Sharm el-Sheikh, 70 km from the city of Tur which also consists of 135 km 2 of land in addition to 345 km 2 in the water area.

Ras Mohammed was declared in 1983 as the first protected national park in Egypt. Ras Mohammed  is distinguished by its coral reeflife living in the deep sea water, colored fish and the threatened extinction of turtles and other aquatic creatures such as mollusks, echinoderms, algae and other marine life. The coral reefs surround  Ras Mohammed from all sides, and the geomorphologic nature of the area formulates a unique configuration and significant impact in shaping the region’s natural life.

Landslides from earthquake are leading to the formulation of underwater caves and different rock formations. Coral reefs are extending from Ras Mohammed to the northern direction and around the islands of Tiran and Sanafir that house the rare bird Osprey.
